Who am I ?
I am Tomoko Funatsu, an art dealer with a deep passion for both Western modern prints and Japanese post-war art. My journey in the art world began with rigorous training at an internationally renowned auction house, where I spent five years honing my expertise before being granted the prestigious 古物商 (Kobutsusho) certification in Japan. This certification ensures that I handle and deal with art at the highest level of authenticity and professionalism.
Art runs through my veins. My family's legacy in the art industry dates back generations, with my grandfather being a renowned ukiyo-e professional who shaped the appreciation of traditional Japanese prints. This rich heritage has profoundly influenced my own approach to art, blending a deep respect for the past with an eye for contemporary relevance. Our family-run dealership has long been dedicated to curating and preserving fine art, a tradition I am proud to continue.
As a mother of two young children, I understand the importance of balance and patience, which reflects in how I work with clients. While my communication may occasionally be slower due to family responsibilities, I always make your needs my top priority and am committed to delivering the best service and art pieces tailored to your unique demands.
Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to sharing my passion for art with you.
